‘These are outward-looking songs of hope and hurt, wrapped in the warmth and familiarity that can only be replicated in the place one calls home’ – Pitchfork (8.3 Review)

Award-winning post-rock artist/composer adem has announced a UK tour and shared by everyone, an utterly captivating track from his acclaimed new album seconds are acorns. adem’s first solo album of original material for nine years, seconds are acorns marries expansive, occasionally unsettling production to his biggest, boldest, most confident melodies to date. Listen to by everyone here.

Founding member of influential post-rock band Fridge alongside Four Tet’s Kieran Hebden and one half of Silver Columns with Johnny Lynch aka The Pictish Trail, adem has released three previous solo albums; Homesongs (2004), Love And Other Planets (2006), and 2008’s alternative covers album Takes.

A pioneering musical polymath, adem has been involved in a wide variety of projects across music, art, theatre, film and television. He has composed the soundtracks for several films, including Armando Iannucci’s In The Loop, and has scored a season for the Royal Shakespeare Company. He produced Radiohead drummer Philip Selway’s 2014 solo album Weatherhouse, and supported Selway on his US tour. He has “contributed sounds” to many records, from Bat For Lashes to Beth Orton, and he provided string arrangements for Foxes, Years And Years and Hot Chip and remixing artists as diverse as Sia and Explosions In The Sky, Underworld and Manic Street Preachers.

Last November, adem was announced as one of the eight recipients of the 2015 Paul Hamlyn Foundation Awards for Artists, the largest individual awards made to visual artists and composers in the UK. Each recipient receives £50k over 3 years. Most recently, adem has scored the music for Ockham’s Razor aerial theatre company’s latest show Tipping Point, currently performing at the Platform Theatre in King’s Cross: http://www.ockhamsrazor.co.uk/tipping-point
